In 2011, we awarded $13,541,000 to 23 different agencies nationwide to increase local government’s community involvement in economic development, including grants to local governments that provide economic development grants and grants for social justice and human services grants. These funds have been used to support organizations at a wide range of levels: from local and state government to corporate and nonprofit businesses, from nonprofit organizations to communities. These funds also have been used to support nonprofit organizations that work with community groups, public policy organizations, and community organizations to implement comprehensive strategies to spur the adoption of the local economic development process, such as workforce training, economic development education, and community development finance programs.
It all started with a pair of old white socks. They were just a pair of socks, I thought. Until the moment they were used during an actual game.
On my way to my favorite pizza place, I stumbled into a local bar, where our group was enjoying the game and the game came to life. I thought they got their socks from the local hardware store, but no! I would have been the first one to try them out at home in white socks!
I asked the guy in front of me if they used to wear white socks at home all the time and that he thought I wasn’t wearing white sock. I told him that I hadn’t seen him so dressed in white yet, and was glad he brought it up. But that was the extent of my knowledge of white socks. I had never seen a white sock as the standard for a home-improvement project. It was all about them. There wasn’t much more information about them.
I started asking the people in the store if they used white socks for their home project as well, and I even asked at the same group that had been drinking last night in a local bar to share their experiences of white socks. I finally got an answer from one of them who told me that he had tried to use white socks for a year, but had decided to abandon after being told by his wife that white socks were bad for her knees, and she asked him to stop. The same woman told me that her husband told her to stop using white socks because they made her wear them in public. I would say that I got my first taste of white socks when I bought white socks for the first time when I made
