What is the best bet of the day? – Quentin Franks Racing

A combination of a big game and bad weather for Friday.

After more than a month of speculation in the gaming press, Valve has officially launched their Steam Summer Sale for their new PC online distribution service. Steam has been getting in on the action with free games, with the $30 Big Picture Mode being their most popular release of the month with 30% off; the other options included are $9.99 Grand Theft Auto V with an extra $7.99 or $29.99 Mirror’s Edge Catalyst with $1 off.

Steam’s Summer Sale runs from September 28 through October 1, with the sale starting to roll to other retailers this week. There are even new discounts happening on Steam today to celebrate this huge promotion, but today is all about the Big Picture Mode, as it’s being made the primary way to distribute content on Steam.

How does Big Picture Mode work?

Big Picture Mode is Steam’s new, improved way to view games on your computer, the one it’s taken over from the original Steam client.

Users can open Big Picture Mode from the main Steam interface, or from the Steam app on their computers via the web or by using a browser extension if you own Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.

While it’s still up to the publisher to choose which features they want the new Big Picture Mode to use, it’s very similar to the old Steam client. In addition to giving users an easy way to browse and access their games, it also makes it possible to play games in a split-screen mode.

The old client provided more flexibility, but was limited by the fact that games are stored in a separate place from programs running within the computer, which made a big difference in the quality of the image that was created when playing games. Big Picture Mode solves that with the ability for the user to play in a full-screen window in addition to the default split-screen mode.

As for which games can be played on it, Steam’s new Big Picture Mode supports Steam games including, but not limited to:

Halo 4

Halo: Spartan Assault

Half Life 2: Episode Two

Minecraft

Overwatch

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

The Witcher 3

Destiny 2

Left 4 Dead 2

Dying Light

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare

Portal 2

Fable III

Sid Meier’s Civilization V

Halo 5: Guardians
