How did you find Alexa?

It’s actually been one of those things where I’ve been to a lot of people trying to do the Alexa thing, and it took me hours of work to figure out how to control it without touching the internet from a terminal. It turns out that all this shit started to happen when the Alexa Voice Service was really just the voice activated device. Then you could just put this headset on this thing and you’d be able to have a voice activated Echo. It’s not really a voice activated product, but just putting it on there was all about convenience and it is what it is.

How do you think your Alexa will affect the music community? What about other people in the industry?

So, I don’t know what the Alexa will ultimately effect the music community. There are a couple of things I know to be true, including that people are going to have these things. It will definitely change the conversation about what you can do on your computer and whether or not you’re going to be able to get a voice activated remote.

But I do know that music is a lot of fun to make and musicians enjoy their work. People are going to have things that give them an additional tool in their toolbox that they couldn’t have before. I feel like it’s a very important thing for the future evolution of the music world to have everything be the same. There’s so many people that have something and they’re not using it but they’ve just wanted to use it.

So that there’s this whole ecosystem of music and it’s going to continue to grow. We’re all going to need tools with these commands, so I think that it’s going to be good for people to have some variety. If you’re an artist and it’s something you want to use, you can. If you have a different skill you want to take on, then, I don’t know, we’ll see. It’s really a big step forward.
