When I was growing up in the ’80s, we didn’t have YouTube and the internet and there was just a whole bunch of us hanging out and listening to different music. There were a lot of records, you had to know your hip-hop, and you had to know your rhyme scheme. We were listening to a lot of different music, and it made me want to learn more. When you get older, that’s it—not having to know that stuff anymore.
