Well I do not rap or show you how to rap in any form whatsoever and I’m a very vocal person. I’m not afraid to take on the hardest elements that I think needs to be taken on and I’ve been doing it since I was a kid so that’s why I do it. I do it because I love what I do and I do it because it makes my life a hell of a lot sweeter.
For a man who’s spoken to the masses for years, how do you hold yourself back from actually using your words?
It’s a struggle. It’s a daily struggle and I know people do it. I have no problem with people saying I rap better than them. It’s a battle I just need to keep going with and learn. You have to learn to be a good emcee, but at the same time you have to learn not to offend. It’s a hard thing because you’re constantly fighting with people. You’ve got to use every inch of the mic and then at the same time make sure you respect everyone. It’s a battle.
I saw you do the “Fuck the Government” mixtape and now you’re doing these things like “The War on Drugs.” Are you trying to do something different with everything you ever do?
Absolutely. I think every person who takes any song on it knows it from that moment and that’s it. It’s like a song. It’s only about what it’s about or what it’s about. I’ve never done a song that was about the government. I’ve been to war on drugs, but that’s a different thing. I’ve never done a song about the war on drugs. It doesn’t matter what you do in the music business. Whatever you do, it’s gonna be about that person you’re working with in the music business.
What do you hope to accomplish with “The War on Drugs”?
Just do a better job than I did the last time, I do not intend to do all these songs. I just want people to hear it. Whether I end up making that much money, is anyone’s guess. But I need to make more money than I made the last time. I’m not talking about a millionaire. I just want to get that money that I always dreamed of. I need that money.
