A. I was sitting in the living room with Sophie, we were watching TV. She came over, sat down and was just staring at the screen, and at that time she was wearing black lipstick and black eye shadow and she told me, and this is what she said, was “I love you.”

A. No.

Q. What did she look like?

A. She was skinny.

Q. Did she sound like a regular girl to you?

A. No. She didn’t sound like anybody that I knew.

A. We’ve been friends for 30 years, and we haven’t talked since then, even though we’ve known each other a long time, and we haven’t got to know each other very much.

Q. When and how did the two of you first become friends?

A. I guess I met her at school in sixth grade at the gym. Maybe they were both in the same soccer team. I was about 7 years old, and she was about 12.
