I’m able to keep my mouth in place and not move my mouth at all, and I’m able to talk. The movement doesn’t make it difficult or any more difficult to speak—it just requires a little bit of effort. So I’m also able to talk when I’m out of my chair, and I’ve been able to talk without too much trouble while sitting down.

What about when I’m on my back? Does it really work?

Sure, it actually works. I can talk while standing up, standing in a chair, sitting down. I’m actually able to talk without using my hands.

Now that you’ve done it, can anybody else do it—do you think anybody can do it?

It sounds like I just said something really strange. If anybody can do it, all you have to do is train yourself to talk without moving the head, and eventually it will become automatic.

How long have you been doing this?

I’ve been doing it three years.

I guess in the same way that you could become really good at the piano; nobody is going to look at the hands and say, “Hey! How do you put down the chords? How do you put down the strums and whatnot?” People are going to look at you and say, “It’s actually very simple.” They’ll think, well, there must be a way to do this, but nobody knows how to do it, and there are probably a lot of people who can do it, but for the last year or so they’ve been keeping their ear out. In the beginning there were quite a few people who couldn’t stop talking for a very long time, and when they finally did that I realized then that there were definitely many people who were doing this. But one problem is that many people are afraid to do this practice, because many people might say, “Can you move your mouth? Can you talk without moving your mouth?” You just have to tell them, “What I’m doing is very simple. It’s actually easier than a piano.”

It was a really short time I had to explain to anyone who was considering changing the way they do things. When it’s done, there’s nobody who is trying to find a way to do it. It really is, in a way, completely natural, and a lot of people can be trained to do it, and I think everybody else can too.
