How often do you wash the brush to prevent corrosion? When I do the first coat of acrylic paint, I always wash it after, but for the rest of the day I’m sure it’s OK.

How do you apply the acrylic paint? I’m not sure I have an answer for this. But for the main purpose it’s easy – it’s on the brush, and as the paint dries it dries more quickly, so it has a tendency to separate from the other layers as it dries. I do not like doing that.

When you paint, is it on the brush or onto the palette? I think on the brush it’s the same. I really hate using the brush to paint, because then the brush wears off the paint. The best thing I’ve used is a palette, and it cleans off the brush on a very quick time! But sometimes if you’re very careful and the brush can’t be washed, you can go and paint it on the palette… or if the brush has a long lifespan, it will have a better chance to stay there.

Do you have any advice for people just starting out on acrylic painting? Start very small or with a very small section. Even when you are used to painting on the brushes, try painting in the same direction. If you are painting into a wall, it works better in the same way if the wall is moving, because then the painting will go off the same slope of your wall. If you are painting over a ceiling, then the painting will move up and down, or to the side, depending on how it falls down and how it rises off of the wall. If you are painting off of a table, you are going to be changing the angle of your line a whole lot and you are much more likely to get a nice color. Always be very careful in how you paint.
