Use an app to paint

Using an app for painting is really cool, but sometimes you’re just on your own. If that’s the case, we have several apps that will be helpful as your artistic journey.

Let’s start with some great painting apps. Paint.net by Nikita Sipos is a powerful paint app for Mac, it uses your Mac’s built in painting tools. This makes it suitable for most purposes for digital painting, from small sketches to larger paintings.

There are many more out there, you can check them out – for example, the free Android app that takes your digital sketch and turns it into a painting on the canvas.

And then there’s Draw.io , drawing tools from Adobe Photoshop, which is one of the better apps for iOS.

If you need a painting app for iPad and the canvas gets too large, some apps are also available to let you draw a circle in your iPad canvas.

Another app you might want to try is Krita , the free and award-winning 2D photo-editing program – it can turn your iPhone into a 3D printer: you can print the image on other devices, or you can simply make one image on paper and share it with others. In doing so, you will be able to build a 3D model much quicker than using Photoshop.

Of course, the first thing you should do as you start out is learn to sketch on your iPad and get used to the canvas, how you create your own style, how to work at a fast pace and how to add to the illustration.

If your iPad just can’t handle this, you can use Paint.org to edit any digital canvas images and also to scan them to share to others.

Make your own artwork in an interesting way

It is really easy to get bored with the regular digital painting tools available. In fact, many are not really intended for the end user. As your artistic adventures go on, your sketches become more realistic and you find new things you like.

One good way to practice your sketches is to have your own drawing app, a great way is to get Sketch from the Mac App Store. It’s not a painting app, but you can have fun drawing in real time to show us your creativity.

What you can do with Sketch is a lot more than painting, though you still can draw pretty well. Here are some tips that are helpful for making good sketches:
