I have always been an avid drawing enthusiast. I have a drawing tablet in our family room and a variety of drawing supplies that are just for fun and drawing as a creative outlet.
When do you draw and do you draw all the time?
My favourite time to draw is in between work hours. I do everything from the most relaxing afternoon nap time in the morning, to creative projects around the house. My favourite thing to do for fun is sketching. I find it is much more relaxing to do this outside than in front of a computer using a digital pen. My favourite day of the week to sketch is Saturday.
What would you say is your favourite animal to draw?
Any animal with a very soft body. I think puppies are always in my top five.
What is the best way to learn to draw?
I started my training in my own backyard. It is all about imagination. I love trying new techniques and taking an entire day to get down to what I feel is the right way to draw.
Which animals inspired you to start drawing?
My first introduction to drawing was through my mother. She painted me the most adorable animals from all different cultures and animal species. I would constantly think about them and remember every new and adorable addition. My favourite animal is an African Donkey dog.
Which animals inspire you to write for people?
I love all animals because they are cute and have so much potential. I also love to write children’s books and animals would fit me perfectly in that realm.
What do you wish you knew before you started drawing?
Before I started drawing, I never thought I would end up in college. I always wanted to be a teacher but I am very lucky to be where I am today.
What is your favourite animal to draw?
My favourite thing to draw in general is all animals. Everyone always asked why do animals have horns, why do animals have feathers or tails, when did babies come into the world and can a puppy be considered a baby now. I can’t answer that yet but the next day I will certainly answer it!
