I have always loved the medium of painting, but had always wanted to move to the next level. I love the process and am very confident with my work, so the only thing I need now is for a couple of paintings for my show opening.

(CNN) The federal government will send an extra $100 million to communities where there have been at least four mass shootings. The money will come as part of a continuing effort to reduce gun violence , and a portion of the money will go to those affected by the shootings.

The money was announced Thursday night as the U.S. Department of Justice announced new measures to help victims of violent crime, as well as provide grants for mental health services.

The $100 million will go to cities and cities of 100,000 residents, said U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder. Another $50 million will be used to provide grants to individuals and families of people killed in gun violence, and $20 million will go to local law enforcement.

While the funds won’t cover treatment, they will provide resources such as mental health and crisis counseling. They’re intended to be temporary and will be able to go to affected cities and the state of Pennsylvania for up to four years.

Holder was joined by Attorney General Loretta Lynch, FBI Director James Comey and other top Department of Justice officials Thursday for the announcement.
