If so, do you have any tips for how to make them good?
I think painting on canvas is probably the most difficult part of painting, but I’m learning! But first have a look at some of my past efforts, like this canvas with just two colors, and this canvas made from watercolor paint. I’m always learning and there always will be more projects for me to try. I never know what painting or painting around will bring on and what new techniques can help to bring forth these projects.
If you could paint anything, what would you paint and why?
The most important question of all! I wish I knew how to paint an elephant or a gorilla or a fish. Maybe you’re thinking, “What’s the fun in painting if you can’t even use your hands to touch the canvas?” I think I can do that.
If you had one piece of advice for aspiring artists, what would it be?
The main thing I would say is don’t be afraid to try new techniques. Start at small things and build up to big things. My first work was a very small canvas, but as I worked on it, it became bigger and bigger. You only have so much time to work with your own hands. It’s all about getting out of your comfort zone and trying out things. Don’t be afraid to try new artists or techniques that are out there. You never know when I’ll be able to paint something amazing with my own hands. You just have to think about it and try something new, not to mention practice.
If you could give your advice to one aspiring artist, who would it be and why?
I’d want to tell someone not to wait so long. If you give yourself the opportunity to learn something new after only 2 or 3 years, you will have a lot of potential from it. If you wait, you’ll never improve, and after 2 or 3 years, I’m sure you’ll end up hating yourself.
Do you have any advice for aspiring artists, or any artists with questions or wants to work with you?
Start out small, but be confident enough to try something new. Practice, practice, practice. I have very good advice for aspiring artists, which is here or here. And check out the book Paint with Me. I don’t sell it, but I recommend it. Also, if you’re in any way interested in working with me on anything, feel free to email me, or visit
