“Graffiti is an art-inspired movement, not a form of art. Graffiti can be viewed as a style in which each artist creates what they can think, say and feel and then paint them on a wall and call it art.”
How did you get started?
“I don’t know if you know me, but I grew up in NYC. My dad is a graphic designer and always had an interest in art. He introduced me to graffiti and that’s when it really hit me that I could be a painter.”
What kind of graffiti artists you follow?
“I’ve been following some of the biggest names in graffiti today with my friends like @Burgerthez and @JurassicShrike. I love everything old school in graffiti. Like The Vandals. I like the way it was used in the 90s by big name, big city street artists, but also new school in the street. It had a lot of energy and it did not try to be anything better with its style because it knew how to do it.”
What are we not familiar with today in modern art?
“There are certain artists that are still in the street and create these amazing drawings. Some just paint in water and stick to water and others use paint. The graffiti today is much more than the first graffiti artists because now they are using technology to create artwork and it’s not based on the water, water is not on the wall of the painting and that’s what is different about modern graffiti art.”
What are some of the biggest influences for you?
“When I was a kid I liked to watch TV shows like Law and Order and Mad at the Bar. I really had some respect for them for how they portrayed crime. They were great.”
What are some of the other things that you want to draw attention and attention for next?
“At the moment, I am writing about the ’50s. That was when all the art and pop culture came to be a part of art history and it’s only going to grow more in the future. It’s going to be bigger with the rise of computers and the internet. I think it’s going to make every other artist a part of history which can only be a good thing as well.”
What can we expect from you in 2014?
“I’m just kind of finishing up school at Columbia University next semester and then I’m back to Seattle and I’m going
