If I were building a house, what would be the first tool I’d want?
This is the first blog post I’m posting here. The reason I put it on the website is because that was actually my main topic when I first tried out the course.
I’ve created the course using Vue.js for some practical reasons, most of them being that I’ve never completed it yet.
This course has been designed for beginner to intermediate level developers.
It’s based mainly on Google’s “learn” course.
The courses are based on good coding examples from the official Google course.
After learning that the course is based on Google’s online course, I’ve decided to share the lessons so that people can understand more of the ideas behind the course.
As you probably heard when I announced it on Google I started by building a basic example:
// basic_example.scss
body {
border-color: red;
color: green;
box-shadow: inset 4px 5px rgba(0,0,0,0.16) inset 0 4px 0 #fafafa;
display: block;
font-size: 12px;
color: #fff;
}
Here are some highlights of the courses
Learning Curve
I’ve spent about 8 months coding the course and after I started to work full-time to learn CSS and JavaScript I was able to get through it in one year. By now it is probably the best learning curve I’ve ever faced and is a good sign that I actually learned something. I can’t compare to this at least, but I wouldn’t say it’s terrible.
The learning curve was pretty linear. I think you can take one course for 3-4 months, then it’ll go from beginner to hardcore.
For example, if you have already learned the basics in Java and JavaScript, you go straight to JavaScript. But if you are a C++ and JavaScript and you wanted to start learning web development you’ll need to learn CSS.
This is because in Python, Javascript and Ruby there are a variety of ways to organize code:
class method function
method
module
module
constant
constant
constant
constant
It seems like having a bunch of variables is the way to go, I didn’t have a problem with
