Most of the companies that do woodworking work were started by individuals, and they are not like traditional manufacturing companies for the most part. You may not be so lucky if the initial business venture is a car or a car company.

Here is my own experience with one of the largest companies in the country… I would say about 10+ years ago,

A young single girl who is still learning how to cut wood, started one of the first woodworking companies in the USA. She took a friend from overseas with her and they started making small batches of “home” furniture. Eventually her father bought a few more of these, and it has been going on for a while… I am sure you can guess who she was! She sold it one day to an employee. Now the woman who had bought the company just bought out her husband and they are no longer a couple.

I would tell you all stories, but I am not sure it really works unless you can read something about woodworking in someone’s handwriting. I would love to know if the wood used by these girls has been treated well and if there are any safety precautions in operation of their company, but I have no idea.

I would like to know if all woodworking woodworkers have had all their wood burned in some way. If so, how? I really wonder!

I would also like to know more about the ethics, regulations, legal aspects of woodworking. What is a wood working business and what does a woodworking company do?

Are there any resources that help in finding and learning about woodworking (how to cut wood, etc.) and how to become a woodworking company? If not, how can you become a company owner and how can this help you? Any resources that help? I am looking for a business resource to get started!

A few years ago I was involved in the woodworking community. I was involved with the Woodworking Guild. I was helping other woodworkers figure out what they could do to become a more established industry member in their community.
